Change tag type in Adobe Acrobat Pro - part 2

Light

Description

Different types of tags exist to ensure that the content is properly structured and accessible to assistive technologies.

Instructions

When a PDF is automatically tagged – for example via Word – the content may get the wrong tag type. A common example is a heading being interpreted as regular body text. This means that the PDF will not be read correctly by assistive tools. Therefore, the tag type may need to be corrected manually in Adobe Acrobat Pro.

  1. The text marked with a pink rectangle should be tagged as a heading.
  2. Currently, it is tagged as body text.
  3. To change the tag type, right-click on the tag and select Properties.
  4. Click the down arrow to open the list under Type.
  5. Change the tag type from Paragraph (P) to the correct heading level, that is, Heading Level 3.
  6. Click Close.
  7. The heading is now tagged as a heading.
