Create an accessible reading order with images in Word
Description
Learn how to ensure that the content is presented in a logical order during screen reading. Decide when in the document the images should be read out.
Instructions
The reading order in a document is crucial for screen readers to read the content in a logical sequence. You may need to define the placement and timing of images and other objects to be read in the document.
- To ensure that the content is presented in the correct order during screen reading, start by selecting the image you want to adjust the reading order for.
- An anchor icon will appear next to the image, indicating its position in the reading order.
- Click and drag the anchor icon to the paragraph where you want the image to be placed after.
- Click on the Layout Options button that appears when the image is selected.
- Then select See more.
- Check the box for Lock anchor. A locked anchor prevents objects from being moved around.
- Once the anchor is locked, a yellow padlock will appear next to it. You have now defined the order of your object in the document.
