Format and bullet points in PowerPoint

Your presentation's appearance is influenced by the selected formats, styles, and bullets. Formats have different looks based on their font, size, and color. There are different formats for headings and body text in your presentation. Text boxes for body text can also be structured with bullet lists. It's important to know how to handle bullet lists properly. Otherwise, there is a risk that they will have an Office standard appearance rather than the appearance determined for your organization.

Formats

1. In PowerPoint templates, format options are always predetermined. Click on a text box to see the predetermined appearance, for example, click on a heading.
2. In the menu, under Font/Character, you can see the properties that the format has, such as the font, size, and color of the heading.
3. When you click on a text box for body text, you can see that the properties under Font/Character are adjusted to show the appearance of the selected text.
4. In the drop-down list that displays fonts, your presentation's theme fonts are placed at the top, under the heading Theme Fonts. These are the fonts that are automatically used in your presentation.

Bullet Lists

1. You can remove bullet lists in the text box for body text by clicking on the bullet list button in the menu (under the heading Paragraph) or by simply manually removing them in the text box.
2. If you want the body text to be in a bullet list again, it's important to reset the formatting. This will bring back the pre-defined bullets. If you were to use the bullet list button to add the list, points with an Office standard appearance, which is incorrect, will be inserted.
3. To navigate down levels in the bullet list, press the Tab key on the keyboard. To navigate up in the bullet list, press Shift+Tab on the keyboard.
